SPHERE THEME - Infected by Nature
stacks_image_161076AA-391F-4BAA-B886-69274BB15001
The main idea of the sphere theme is based on observations of the colors in nature: the transitions from light to dark and vice versa aren't based on just adding white or black colors. The colors mostly have some yellow parts in it when going to white and blue when going to black. This effect has been noted quiet early in chromatics (e.g. divition of the color wheel in bright/dark and warm/cold). My idea was to implement this in Sphere.

Additionally to that basis the sphere theme implements many new features which work for you in the background. Two of them are worth mentioning here: the navigation and tooltips.
As the menu is not static but animated I can't fully describe the effect here. Just try it out. When you hover the navbar with the mouse the menu is softly expanded downward, overlaying the header image in a semi-transparent layer. The whole menu is built as a site map, so your visitors are able to directly go to any part of your site. Also every menu entry softly changes from the inactive to the active state.
The tooltips is another great feature of the sphere theme. When you hover a link in the main content, a tooltip will pop up showing the link target (URL) and a small description in a semitransparent layer.

THE SPECIALS
Beautiful Overlays
The Sphere Theme includes Overlays from one color to others. This is done for the main background and the bottom fading, which makes your content mystically appear from the bottom up.
Animated Navbar Drop-Down
A very special effect has been included with the Sphere Theme: The navbar section will be animated and overlays the header background image. Very smooth transitions are possible.
Tooltips
Tooltips are automatically created for links you add to your page. They show up on a transparent layer next to the mouse pointer and may tell the visitor the URL and description of the site the link points to.
Split Navigation
The Sphere Theme includes Split Navigation. This means: the top menu items are rendered as horizontal tabs. All according subpages are placed in the sidebar.
The special thing about this: you can choose if you want a split navigation or display the subnavigation items in the navbar section over the header image.
Mediabox (MediaboxAdvanced in the next Update)
I had many requests to include mediaboxAdvanced in my themes. In Drawer I did it.
mediabox itself uses a lightbox effect to present media (e.g. movies, flash animations, youtube content, images, ...) and other content like external webpages or inline content. The new version mediaboxAdvanced adds many new media sources, social webservices and lets you create galleries (called sets).

With mediabox it is also very easier to load movies, as you don't have to create special html pages for them. Simply use the movie as an asset you added to the page and add the proper rel tag in the link setup panel. This will further be described in the manual.

What is Supported?
Browsers
stacks_image_69CBDEDA-0D0E-4FE7-B545-328375056C06
I test my themes with the following Browsers and try to fix any problems I find:

- Safari4+
- Firefox 3.5+
- Opera 10
- IE7

I have dropped support for IE6. This doesn't mean the theme doesn't work in IE6, I just won't invest a lot of time on correcting strange behaviours.
IE8 will be tested and supported in future updates
Plugins
Below you will find a list, what plugins are supported. Note that I only will give free support on the following plugins with the status "Supported". I always try to maximize the compatibility with many plugins, but I can't test them all (and sometimes the plugins use some code which makes it almost impossible to find a solution to fix problems).
