POP 1.0.1 Theme Update Released
Today I have released the first bugfix update for the new POP Theme. If you already purchased the POP theme you should have received a Mail with the download information.
Here is the changelog:
- Added support for FLV files in mediabox
- Corrected some general problems with the custom colors (stylesheet will no validate without errors (except the webkit/moz and css3 definitions))
- Setting a min-height of 400px for nicer looks if you only have very few content
- Some minor style adjustments (blog tag cloud, blog title, ...)
As I already mentioned in the last post, you may use the free Empty theme to fix some pugin compatibility problems.
If you are a advanced HTML/CSS coder, you also may be interested in the file changelog, which can be found on the changelog site.

Fixing Broken Plugins
There are many existing RapidWeaver Plugins on the net. Too many to test all with my themes. I have found that sometimes specific plugins may break a theme or even break the whole plugin. This does not only affect my themes. I have found most themes that include the great mootools library break on plugins that include lightbox windows. Thanks to Isaiah from yourhead, his plugins mostly work without any problems. But you may find some strange behaviours from time to time.
I have already described a possible way to fix these incompatibility bugs but dropped it when Isaiah updated all plugins to work. Now, it seems there are still many plugins that do not work properly (e.g. coverflow). So, I decided to republish the workaround in the online documentation and also as a screencast. Be sure to check them out if you encounter any troubles.
The idea is based on a simple utility theme named „Empty“ this theme is freely available to download from my free themes section.

Two More Screencasts Added

Again I added two screencasts. They will teach you the basic things like installing/upgrading themes and how to find out which theme version you are using. Check them out in the new screencasts section.
New Screencast Section Started

I just added a new screencast section to my site. This should help you understand how to implement many features of my themes. I started with the following two items:
Mediabox and File Assets:
If you already own the POP theme and haven’t tried the mediabox feature yet, go ahead. This screencast will tell you how you will load images or movies you added to the page assets in mediabox.
Greybox Image Sets:
Image Sets is one of many features of the greybox library which is included in almost all my themes. In this screencast you will learn how to use the Greybox Image Set to load many images in one greybox layer.
Let me know what you think about it.

POP Theme Released

One of my hobbies is doing magic tricks. One question that people always asked was: aren't you afraid that something won't work? The answer is: No. Magic is more than doing simple tricks. It is about knowing the way human thinks. And with your voice you direct their thoughts. One important thing is: Don't let the spectators know what you are going to do. This way they never know if something went wrong and possibly think it has to be like it is.
The same thought applies to the POP theme: Only few browsers support all features included in the theme. You won't get the same design on different browsers - well, actually you can if you want. The important thing is: as your visitors don't know how the page should be rendered, they don't think something is wrong. The design looks good in every browser, but a few things are sleeping in the background until they will be woken up by new browser versions.
I also think that writing code for specific browsers is a dead end. Browsers will always render a page differently. If you want a webpage be rendered the same on every system and every browser, you can only work with images. No text, no boxes, no borders and so on. Only few people are checking out a website with different browsers, so it doesn't matter at all if a page is rendered differently on different browsers.
Find out more on the main theme page or try it out by downloading the demo version.
