Present Theme: General Information

Here is some general and probably useful information about the Present Theme

The Idea behind Present

Always adding more functionality, features and web 2.0 effects is not the best thing to do. My most successful theme until now is Camilo which actually don't provide many features found in newer themes. So, I was thinking about it: why is camilo so successful? I think the answer is: even you add a lot of things, the theme may be too difficult to understand. A good design should be the base of everything. Sure, many style options is a cool thing and Present has a lot of them. But it doesn't incude additional stuff like a media javascript framework (greybox, mediabox) or any effects.
So, Present is a very easy to handle and fully 3rd party plugin compatible theme, so you can concentrate on your content.
The design itself was sent as a request to me and I found the idea so great, I started to work on it.

The Layout Options

There are several Layout Style Variations available. As seen above, you can set the following options:

- overall width (including fluid widths)
- content height (only fixed pixel sizes)
- navbar item position: you can align the navbar to the left/right or center it
- sidebar position (left/right/hide)
- header height (several height values including the possibility to hide it)

Background Images and Transparency

Similar to the Usine theme, I liked to add options for container background images and transparency. Now you can add any image and put a semi-transparent colored layer above the image, so the text is better readable or to create cool backdrop effects. You can set a background image for the container and another one for the header. The transparency value can be set in the "Overlay Transparency" style options for the sidebar and the main content. It is vital you play a little bit with all those options available and you will see that Present is very flexible and a creative theme.

But what if I really like media frameworks (e.g. mediabox)?

If you really like mediabox (as I do!), you can add mediabox to your pages using my free mediabox snippet, which is included in the download folder. For further information on the usage, please read the mediabox manual.

No Bugs?

I couldn't find any bugs until now with this theme in combination with any other 3rd party plugin. Actually if there is a bug, report it to the plugin developer as I have added no code at all which should make the plugin/theme break. ;-)
